Phonex Voice and Data Powerline Sales Surpass 10 Million Units

-Digital ReadyWire Chip Expected to Increase Volume with New Features and Applications-

March 3, 2003 - Midvale,Utah - Phonex Corporation, a leader in powerline voice and data products, today announced that sales have exceeded 10 million powerline devices. Phonex is the patented, sole provider of the industry's top selling Wireless Phone Jack. This product's success, coupled with the award winning Neverwire 14 data networking device and the announcement of the integrated ReadyWire Chip, make Phonex the clear market leader in powerline technology.

In 2003, the company will provide the basis for a number of new applications in voice, data and Internet video communications over the home electrical wiring.

"We averaged a powerline installation every 60 seconds in 2002," said John Knab, CEO at Phonex Corporation. "With more than a million units sold last year alone, the consumer acceptance of powerline technology has been excellent. Our next generation digital devices will include our new ReadyWire Chip, bringing digital MP3 audio, voice, Internet video and automation to the entire home over the powerline."

Based on reliable OFDM technology, the ReadyWire Chip's inexpensive design allows any device to communicate through its power cord with digital data streams up to 599 kbps. This reliable speed provides excellent MP3 audio, full duplex voice, Internet video and home automation control throughout the entire home electrical system.

With initial testing complete, the ReadyWire technology has demonstrated its reliability, speed and low latency performance. Homes were tested with a range of size, age, wiring configuration, and interference characteristics. The results validated a highly reliable, fast connection with low latency - excellent for MP3 streaming, voice applications, home automation and energy management communication. In fact, even after inserting a variety of high interference devices onto the powerline network, the ReadyWire technology still maintained its high performance. A large-scale field test will be performed in the future.
