Salt Lake City - 02.27.2001 - Phonex Corporation, the Utah-based world leader
of Power Line Communication (PLC) communication devices, announced today that it is continuing its efforts to penetrate
new global markets by shipping a revolutionary new product for Australia that turns any powerpoint into a phone line.
The new product, called EasyJack has met the requirements for telecom regulation in Australia and is now available for
purchase across the country.
Using patented technology that transmits voice and data signals over standard 220 volt electrical wiring, EasyJack can
be plugged into any powerpoint in the home to create an instant telephone jack. It transmits all phone, fax, and modem
signals to any location within a home or small office without adding new wires, eliminating expensive phone hookup fees
and the need to cut or drill into walls. The technology behind EasyJack has an installed base of 6.5 million nodes
worldwide.
EasyJack has been designed to support V.34 and V.90 modems making access to the World Wide Web possible from any
powerpoint in the home. It is robust enough to support data access over the Internet and fast enough to support modem
speeds required by users on the Web who want to quickly download data.
EasyJack also offers high-end voice quality and includes noise reduction filters and built-in phone lightning surge
suppression; security is assured by 65,000 random codes. The device can be installed without any tools by the user in
less than two minutes and is compatible with corded and cordless phones, answering machines, and phone services such as
call forwarding, call waiting, three-way calling, and conference calling. The product works throughout all levels of a
house, and can be easily relocated around the home within an approximate 25 metre range by simply unplugging it from a
powerpoint and plugging it into another.
